Government Approves Handicrafts SEZ in Haryana's Panipat and Karnal, Covering 10.4872 Hectares, Effective September 9, 2011
The Central Government has approved the establishment of a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for the handicrafts sector in Village Sarai Kohand, Tehsil Panipat, District Panipat, and Village Kohand, Tehsil Gharonda, District Karnal, Haryana. The SEZ, proposed by a private organization, has met all requirements under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. The designated area covers 10.4872 hectares, with specific survey numbers listed. An Approval Committee comprising various government officials and representatives has been constituted. The SEZ will function as an Inland Container Depot from September 9, 2011, under the Customs Act, 1962.
