of <h1>SEZ for IT Services in Thane, Maharashtra Approved in 2008, Rescinded in 2019 Under SEZ Act 2005.</h1> The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, through a notification dated August 22, 2008, approved the establishment of a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for information technology and IT-enabled services at Trans Thane Creek Industrial Area, MIDC, District Thane, Maharashtra. This initiative, proposed by a private organization, was sanctioned under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. The designated SEZ area includes specific plots totaling 21.26 hectares. The notification was later rescinded by Notification No. S.O. 4127(E) on November 7, 2019.
