<h1>Board Approves New SEZs in Karnataka and Orissa, Expands Default Operations List for Unit Approval Committee.</h1> The Board of Approval for Special Economic Zones (SEZs) granted two formal approvals and one in-principle approval for new SEZs. The formal approvals were for IT/ITES/BPO/EH sectors in Bangalore and Shimoga, Karnataka, while the in-principle approval was for a Solar SEZ in Orissa. The board also approved nine proposals for co-developer status and decided to expand the list of default operations, authorizing the Unit Approval Committee to approve these operations. So far, 577 formal approvals have been granted, with 325 SEZs notified, resulting in significant investment and employment.
