<h1>SEZ Board Approves New IT, Biotech, and Multi-Services Zones in India, Boosting Investment and Employment.</h1> The Board of Approval for Special Economic Zones (SEZs) granted two formal approvals and one in-principle approval for new SEZ proposals. The formal approvals were for IT and biotech SEZs in West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh, respectively, while the in-principle approval was for a multi-services SEZ in Tamil Nadu. To date, 576 SEZs have received formal approval, with 319 notified, attracting investments of over Rs. 1,08,903 crore and generating employment for 387,439 people. Exports from SEZs reached Rs. 99,689 crore in the 2008-09 financial year, a 50% increase from the previous year. Two co-developer status proposals were also approved.
