100% FDI Allowed Automatically in Agriculture, Food Processing, and Infrastructure; Tea Plantations Require Approval and Equity Divestment.
FDI up to 100% is allowed under the automatic route in sectors like floriculture, horticulture, seed development, animal husbandry, pisciculture, aquaculture, and controlled cultivation of vegetables and mushrooms, as well as related agro services. In the tea plantation sector, 100% FDI is permitted with government approval, requiring 26% equity divestment to an Indian partner or public within five years and state approval for land use changes. The food processing industry and infrastructure facilities like cold storage and transportation also permit 100% FDI automatically. There are no current plans to further ease FDI norms in agro-processing and infrastructure.
