BMW accident: accused charged with culpable homicide, rash driving and related offences; court took cognisance and issued summons.
Police informed the court that a fatal road collision involving a speeding BMW is charged as culpable homicide not amounting to murder, on the basis that the accused's driving caused the accident and that there was deliberate delay in providing critical medical assistance; the alleged delay and diversion to a distant, under-equipped hospital is charged as causing disappearance of evidence and as an act endangering life, and rash driving is separately charged. The chargesheet was held to prima facie disclose offences and cognisance was taken with summons issued to the accused.
