<h1>Salal reservoir desilting on Chenab and Kashmir hydropower project inspections ordered, aiming faster silt removal and completion timelines</h1> Following the termination of the Indus Waters Treaty last year, sediment removal works are being undertaken at the Salal reservoir on the Chenab River to remove accumulated silt and maximise utilisation of water resources; NHPC was directed to expedite these operations, with the operative consequence of accelerating reservoir desilting and associated generation optimisation measures. Separately, multiple hydroelectric projects in Jammu and Kashmir were subjected to on-site and aerial inspections and progress reviews, including Pakal Dul, Dul Hasti, Sawalkot and Ratle, with directions to complete ongoing works effectively and within stipulated timelines, thereby driving implementation and commissioning readiness through administrative supervision.
