The Minister of Corporate Affairs, Shri Prem Chand Gupta has informed the Parliament that MRTP Commission found various companies guilty of violating the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Act in 128 cases from January 2006 till September this year. In a written reply to an un-starred question in the Lok Sabha, Shri Gupta gave the details of these cases and the list of the guilty companies/organizations. He informed the House that during calendar year 2006 violation of the MRTP Act was found in a total of 67 cases by the MRTP Commission. Out of these a Cease & desist order was passed in 26 cases, whereas in other cases compensation was allowed.
During calendar year 2007 violation of the MRTP Act was found in a total of 41 cases. Out of these a Cease & desist order was passed in 18 cases, whereas in other cases compensation was allowed. During this year ( up to September 2008 ) MRTP Commission has found 20 cases of violation of MRTP Act and has passed 5 Cease & desist orders; in other cases compensation has been allowed.
