Digital arrest fraud uses impersonation and video calls to extract large transfers; victims should not pay or transfer funds.
Perpetrators impersonated law enforcement officials, used a video call to display a fake FIR and an ATM card linked to the victim's Aadhaar, and obtained Rs 1,92,50,070 through multiple transfers; three suspects were arrested in connection with linked complaints while a principal accused remains absconding. Police warned that 'digital arrest' is not a legal concept and that agencies will not request payments or transfers via phone, UPI, cryptocurrency, or gift cards to avoid arrest.
