Chief Minister vows to stay in office as party faction pushes 2023 power-sharing deal on succession
The Karnataka Chief Minister publicly asserted that he will continue in office and present future state budgets amid an internal power struggle within the ruling party. A faction of legislators is reportedly in New Delhi pressing the party leadership to implement an alleged 2023 power-sharing understanding under which the current Chief Minister would step down after two and a half years in favor of a senior party colleague. The Chief Minister stated that any decision on leadership change, cabinet reshuffle, or government restructuring rests solely with the party high command and affirmed that all ministers and legislators, including himself and his deputy, must comply with that decision.
