Youth forum champions safeguarding agricultural heritage through innovation, policy, technology, and community action to protect livelihoods
An international youth forum on safeguarding agricultural heritage convened in Rome, co-hosted by UN food-agency youth offices, regional FAO offices, a global food forum, and national media partners, with academic and UN innovation-lab support. Over 50 youth delegates from more than 10 countries, experts, and international officials discussed threats to agricultural heritage-mechanization, urbanization, demographic shifts, and climate change-and promoted youth-led innovation, policy measures, technological solutions, cultural communication, and community engagement to protect living heritage and bolster livelihoods, agro-tourism, value-added products, and food security. Participants produced multi-country proposals, short films, and showcased rural innovation and heritage-based products.
