International symposium on marine ecosystems to tackle climate impacts, sustainable fisheries, biodiversity, industry links, and women in marine biology
A three-day international symposium on marine ecosystems will begin on November 4, organized by a marine research institute in partnership with a marine association, focusing on climate change and sustainable aquatic resource management. The fourth edition expects about 1,000 delegates and features roughly 500 research presentations across four themes: ecosystem and biodiversity conservation; sustainable fisheries and mariculture; climate and environment resilience; and products, value chains and livelihoods. The program includes special sessions on women in marine biology and marine mammal research, an industry meet to link science with commercial application on November 5, and a seafood festival highlighted by an octopus cookery show, inaugurated by a former space agency chair.
