<h1>8th Pay Commission ToR approved to review central pay, allowances and pensions with implementation aimed from Jan 1, 2026.</h1> The Terms of Reference for the 8th Central Pay Commission were approved to review and recommend changes to salaries, allowances and pension arrangements for central government employees, defence personnel and pensioners; the Commission will assess emolument structures across central departments, CPSEs and private sector comparators, consider dearness allowance and unfunded pension costs, evaluate fiscal prudence and impact on state finances, and submit a final report within 18 months with interim reports as available, with recommendations expected to take effect around January 1, 2026.
