<h1>State plans 2,400 MW pumped-storage hydro project on Darzo Nallah to cut power imports and costs with estimated Rs 13,947.5 crore</h1> The state government plans a pumped-storage hydroelectric project in Hnahthial district across Darzo Nallah with 2,400 MW installed capacity (eight 300 MW units) and estimated cost of Rs 13,947.5 crore. Designed as an on-stream closed-loop facility, it is projected to deliver about 4,993.2 MU annually at 95% availability. The Centre will provide 10% of project cost under Gross Budgetary Support; the state has allocated Rs 285 crore for a 132 kV transmission line. The proposal seeks to reduce reliance on imported power and annual import expenditure of roughly Rs 400 crore.
