<h1>National Archives exhibition showcases 75,500+ records highlighting Public Records Act 1993 and Rules 1997 obligations for transparency</h1> An exhibition by the National Archives of India will display archival records from multiple ministries documenting governance reforms, infrastructure projects, electoral changes including electronic voting machines, and Panchayati Raj developments. The Archives, under the Ministry of Culture and designated the nodal agency for implementation of the Public Records Act, 1993 and Public Records Rules, 1997, has received over 75,500 historically valuable documents from 2021-2025 and currently holds more than 34 crore pages of public records. The curated exhibits emphasize statutory record-keeping obligations, transparency and accountability in public administration, and the legal and institutional role of archival preservation in supporting democratic governance.
