India services growth eases to 60.9 in September PMI; new business and hiring slow, outlook still improves
A monthly survey shows India's services-sector growth eased in September, with the seasonally adjusted Services PMI Business Activity Index falling to 60.9 from 62.9 in August, though remaining well above the 50.0 expansion threshold. New business, international demand and employment expanded at slower rates, while inflation and charges rose at their slowest pace since March. Composite private-sector output also moderated to 61.0. Firms reported improved six-month outlooks citing advertising, efficiency, competitive pricing and tax cuts as tailwinds. The PMI is compiled from responses by roughly 400 services firms.
