<h1>Paramilitary seizes 650 bags of poppy seed, 181 cartons of smuggled cigarettes worth Rs 8.7 crore; 10 detained</h1> Paramilitary personnel intercepted four commercial vehicles near Aizawl and conducted a separate raid in Champhai district, seizing 650 bags of poppy seeds and 181 cartons/cases of smuggled foreign cigarettes with an alleged combined value of Rs 8.7 crore, and apprehending 10 individuals. Seven suspects were detained at the Aizawl seizures and three in Champhai. The seized contraband and the detainees were transferred to the customs authority and the state legal metrology department for criminal investigation and prosecution under applicable customs, narcotics and trade/measurement laws.
