Damaged roads were promptly restored or temporarily reconnected, and government machinery worked continuously to maintain transport and marketing. Sales by regional agricultural produce market committees rose in Shimla-Kinnaur (1,09,86,863 vs 77,40,164), Solan (24,90,835 vs 22,18,685), and Kullu (20,88,374 vs 14,03,392), while Mandi reported a decline (16,81,055 vs 89,19,893). Apples represent a roughly Rs 4,500-crore state economy.
