<h1>Monsoon road damage didn't stop 1.73 crore apple boxes reaching markets; sales rose in most regional markets</h1> Between June 27 and September 15, 1,73,74,204 twenty-kilogram apple boxes reached markets in the state despite monsoon road damage, up from 1,23,18,924 boxes in the same period last year. Damaged roads were promptly restored or temporarily reconnected, and government machinery worked continuously to maintain transport and marketing. Sales by regional agricultural produce market committees rose in Shimla-Kinnaur (1,09,86,863 vs 77,40,164), Solan (24,90,835 vs 22,18,685), and Kullu (20,88,374 vs 14,03,392), while Mandi reported a decline (16,81,055 vs 89,19,893). Apples represent a roughly Rs 4,500-crore state economy.
