Government approves free 200 sq metre land allotment to state telecom for 4G towers and infrastructure in 930 villages
The state government authorized allocation of 200 sq. metres of land at no cost in 930 villages to a state-owned telecom company for ground-based mobile towers and equipment to expand 4G internet in rural, remote and tribal areas, pursuant to an earlier cabinet decision. The allotment revises a larger 2023 list after technical impediments prevented installations at many sites and spans 30 districts, including habitations of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. District collectors are directed to grant approvals within 15 days and to facilitate electricity supply, rights-of-way for optical fibre and other infrastructure in coordination with the state electricity distributor.
