Coalition convenes 150+ stakeholders to scale AI for last-mile livelihoods, focusing on ethical design, open infrastructure, data governance
Two organizations co-hosted a convening attended by over 150 stakeholders from government, industry, civil society and social enterprises to advance an initiative launched earlier in the year supporting early-stage social entrepreneurs using AI to generate last-mile livelihoods. The event promoted principles of intentional design, open infrastructure, grassroots participation, accessibility and ethical AI, and highlighted government engagement and policy priorities treating AI as a public good. The program offers funding, mentorship, legal and technical support to a cohort of grantees. Legal issues raised include data governance, open-source licensing, regulatory compliance, accessibility obligations and equitable distribution of AI benefits.
