Environment ministry says tender allows e-vehicles and most fleet is electric, CNG or hybrid despite criticism
A government environment ministry defended a recent tender for new passenger cars, saying most of its fleet consists of electric, CNG or hybrid vehicles and that the tender document permits hiring e-vehicles. In a written parliamentary reply the ministry said recent purchases were limited and made through the government marketplace in line with expenditure rules, and that e-vehicles have also been hired via a state-owned energy services JV. The defence responds to criticism after reports that one tender largely specified petrol cars despite a regional air-quality advisory urging only electric, hybrid or CNG procurements.
