<h1>Central Excise Duty Exemption for Ultra Mega Power Projects Using Super Critical Coal Technology, Effective August 14, 2008.</h1> The government has announced a full exemption from Central Excise Duty for goods used in setting up Ultra Mega Power Projects utilizing super critical coal thermal technology. This exemption applies to projects with an installed capacity of 3960 MW or more, established under a government initiative, where power procurement is based on tariff-based competitive bidding. The exemption is subject to certain conditions and is effective from August 14, 2008, as per Notification No. 46/2008-CE.
