<h1>India Secures $600M World Bank Aid for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan II to Boost Elementary Education Enrollment and Access.</h1> India has entered a Financing Agreement with the World Bank for the Second Elementary Education Project, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan II, receiving US $600 million in assistance. The project focuses on increasing enrollment, attendance, and completion rates of elementary education among 6-14 year olds, particularly from special focus groups, by improving quality and universalizing access with equity. The agreement was signed by representatives from the Indian government and the World Bank. Additional funding of US $375 million is provided by the Department for International Development (UK) and the European Commission, covering about 11% of the total project cost of US $10,700 million. The project is set to conclude by March 31, 2010.
