<h1>Finance commission interim report recommends grants and revenue-sharing to strengthen rural and urban local governments; sent to national commission</h1> A state finance commission submitted an interim report to the state government and separately to the constitutional head, recommending grants to local bodies and proposing policies for distribution of state taxes, duties, tolls and fees and allocation of revenue shares among stakeholders. The commission was tasked to suggest measures to strengthen the financial position of rural and urban local governments, including Panchayati Raj institutions and municipalities. The interim findings will be forwarded to the national finance commission for its consideration.
