The fiscal deficit for April-July was Rs 48,354.02 crore, about 61% of the yearly target of Rs 79,926.90. GST collections attained 61% of their four-month budget estimate. Yearly revenue receipts target of Rs 2,97,929.16 saw 33% realization at Rs 98,281.42, which included Rs 49,198.29 crore of borrowings and liabilities. A ratings agency projects FY26 deficits at 1.8% (revenue) and 4.4% (fiscal) of GSDP and debt/GSDP at 35.5%; social-sector spending exceeded Rs 50,000 crore.
