<h1>Government releases Electric Mobility Index ranking states on EV adoption, infrastructure, and innovation progress</h1> A government agency released the first Electric Mobility Index evaluating all Indian states and Union Territories on electric vehicle adoption, charging infrastructure, and technology innovation. Three regions ranked highest overall, demonstrating strong ecosystems for electric mobility. Specific states led in transport electrification, charging infrastructure readiness, and EV research and innovation. Currently, 29 states and territories have formal EV policies, with four more drafting policies to support localized incentives and regulations aligned with national objectives. The report noted significant growth in the electric vehicle market in 2024, with private adoption of electric two-wheelers and cars reaching 5.3 percent and over 1.2 million EVs registered. Public charging infrastructure also expanded, with over 25,000 stations operational by the end of 2024.
