Technology company wins Rs 140 crore contract for National Common Mobility Card system rollout
A technology company secured a Rs 140 crore contract from a state transport corporation to implement the National Common Mobility Card system for concessionaires. The project represents the first state-wide rollout of this payment system and is expected to generate Rs 2,000 crore in annual transactions once operational. The company previously received a contract in November 2022 to supply over 38,000 electronic ticketing machines, which have processed approximately 220 crore passenger tickets across more than 16,000 buses serving 13 crore monthly passengers. The new mobility card program, developed in collaboration with the National Payments Corporation and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, enables passengers to use a single smartcard across multiple transport modes. The project mandates adoption for concessional passengers and aims to issue 70 lakh cards in the first year, scaling to over 2 crore cards through 3,000 retail outlets.
