<h1>Passengers arrested for smuggling 20 exotic animals including pythons and parrots without proper documentation under Wildlife Protection Act 1972</h1> Two passengers were arrested at Pune International Airport for attempting to smuggle exotic wildlife species from Bangkok. Acting on intelligence, customs officers intercepted the individuals after they arrived on an Air India Express flight. Officials recovered 20 exotic animals from their baggage, including 14 green tree pythons (13 alive, one dead), four double-eyed fig parrots, and two Sumatran striped rabbits. The species were brought without proper documentation or required clearances and are protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Both passengers were arrested and investigation continues.
