Contractor and officials suspended over pavement failure on highway corridor, Rs 2.8 crore penalty imposed
The National Highways Authority of India suspended a contractor, authority engineer, and project director following pavement distress on the Amritsar-Jamnagar Corridor section in Gujarat. The contractor was debarred from future bids and issued a show cause notice with Rs 2.8 crore penalty. The authority engineer was also debarred with a show cause notice issued. Expert committees from various IITs were constituted to analyze the pavement failure and recommend remedial measures.
