India and Ghana form comprehensive partnership targeting doubled trade within five years and enhanced defense cooperation
India and Ghana elevated their bilateral relationship to a comprehensive partnership during the Indian Prime Minister's visit to Ghana, the first such visit in three decades. The leaders agreed to double bilateral trade within five years and enhance cooperation in defense, food security, pharmaceuticals, and vaccine production. Four agreements were signed covering culture and traditional medicine. Both countries committed to strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation and addressing security concerns in the Sahel region. India offered support for Ghana's agricultural programs and shared expertise in digital payments technology. The partnership aims to boost investment, with Indian companies having already invested nearly two billion dollars in Ghana across 900 projects.
