State power company delivers five hydrogen fuel cell buses for first commercial deployment at world's highest altitude
A state-owned power company delivered five hydrogen fuel cell buses to a regional infrastructure corporation for commercial operations in a Union Territory. This represents the country's first commercial deployment of hydrogen fuel buses and establishes a global benchmark by operating at the world's highest altitude. The initiative includes a hydrogen fueling station at 11,562 feet above sea level, powered by a 1.7 MW solar plant. The project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 350 MT annually while contributing 230 MT of oxygen yearly, equivalent to 13,000 tree plantations.
