Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an accused Inspector of Central Goods & Service Tax (CGST), Regional GST Office, Prayagraj (UP) for demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant.
A case was registered by CBI on 03.05.2025 against two accused Inspectors of CGST, Regional GST Office, Prayagraj, UP on allegations that accused demanded a bribe amount of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant to carry out physical verification of his company, required for the purpose of GST Registration of the said company.
CBI laid a trap and caught one of the accused Inspectors red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant. Later, accused was arrested and will be produced before the Court of Learned Special Judge, Anti Corruption, CBI Court No. 1, Lucknow.
Investigation is continuing.
