<h1>Deemed-to-be university status expands academic autonomy and enables doctoral and degree programmes at national film institutes.</h1> Granting of deemed-to-be university status to SRFTI and FTII under section 3 of the UGC Act enables both institutes to launch doctoral, research and innovative academic programmes, participate in national ranking and Academic Bank of Credits systems, and exercise greater academic autonomy in alignment with the National Education Policy. Postgraduate diploma holders will be awarded formal degrees and institutes will be empowered to confer higher research degrees such as PhD and D.Litt, alongside expected enhancements to budgets, infrastructure and curriculum innovation, including integration of emerging creative technologies.
