India Accelerates Renewable Energy Push: 500 GW Target by 2030, 40 GW Power Agreements in Progress
The Union Minister discussed renewable energy plans, revealing ongoing talks with states to sign power purchase agreements for 40 GW of capacity. India aims to achieve 500 GW renewable energy by 2030, with current solar capacity at 106 GW. The country has added 29.52 GW renewable energy capacity in 2024-25 and expects peak power demand to double by 2032. Twelve lakh households have installed rooftop solar under a national program, and the minister emphasized innovative solutions for solar energy generation.
