MP Calls for Reduced US Tariffs on Indian Seafood Exports to Protect Livelihoods of 800,000 Farmers
A TDP Member of Parliament has urged the Commerce Minister to address high US tariffs on Indian seafood exports, which will impact over 800,000 farmers in Andhra Pradesh. The MP highlighted that the US has imposed a 26% tariff on Indian seafood while Ecuador, a competitor in the sector, faces only a 10% tariff. Andhra Pradesh exports $3.5 billion worth of seafood annually. The MP expressed confidence in the Prime Minister's ability to help the sector and requested the Commerce Ministry to take the matter seriously given the economic importance of seafood exports to Andhra Pradesh.
