<h1>Tetra Pak Partners with Tieedi Foundation to Create Sustainable Recycling System Supporting Waste Workers in Darjeeling</h1> Tieedi Permaculture Foundation and Tetra Pak have partnered to establish a recycling system for beverage cartons in Darjeeling District. The initiative creates a structured collection network where waste workers receive formal recognition, training, and healthcare support. Collected cartons are sent to Khatema Fibres in Uttarakhand for recycling into various products including paper goods, roofing sheets, and furniture materials. The program formalizes the role of waste pickers in the management ecosystem while students from Sonada Degree College will collect data on waste pickers. This collaboration represents the first formal recognition of informal waste workers in the region while addressing environmental challenges through community-driven waste management.
