The policy, implemented April 1, reduced total shops from 12,553 to 9,362 while maintaining revenue. The minister emphasized this change improves consumer convenience, increases revenue, and reduces shop numbers without affecting employment. The department generated Rs 52,297.08 crore in 2024-25, up 14.76% from the previous year, with a target of Rs 63,000 crore for 2025-26. Anti-tax evasion measures include digital locks on tankers, CCTV monitoring, GPS-enabled vehicles, and QR code tracking systems.
