National Highway Authority to Develop 121-km Guwahati Ring Road with Brahmaputra Bridge for Rs 5,729 Crore
The National Highway Authority of India will develop a 121-km Guwahati Ring Road at a cost of Rs 5,729 crore on a build-operate-toll basis over 30 years, including 4 years for construction. The Assam government will contribute Rs 1,270 crore by bearing 50% of land costs and providing tax exemptions. The project includes a Northern Guwahati Bypass, widening an existing bypass on NH 27, improving another bypass section, and constructing a 3-km bridge over the Brahmaputra River. This ring road will provide connectivity for the East-West Corridor and decongest Guwahati while connecting major northeastern towns.
