The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs sanctioned central support of Rs 3,652.56 crore to aid Bihar in completing the project by March 2029, with a total estimated cost of Rs 6,282.32 crore. The project aims to divert surplus Kosi water to the Mahananda basin in Bihar by remodeling the existing Eastern Kosi Main Canal, enhancing irrigation in the region.
