India Prepares to Launch First Space Activities Bill to Boost Private Sector Involvement and Growth
The government is meticulously reviewing the draft 'Space Activities Bill,' the first of its kind for India's space sector, before its introduction. Initially discussed in 2017, the bill aims to regulate and encourage private sector involvement in space activities. The Department of Space, under the Prime Minister's Office, is coordinating with other departments to finalize the bill. Additionally, the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) has approved a Rs 1,000 crore venture capital fund, managed by SIDBI Venture Capital Limited, to support private companies in the space sector, addressing the need for risk capital to foster growth and international competitiveness.
