<h1>Disaster management amendments clarify institutional responsibilities and penalties to strengthen accountability and coordination nationwide.</h1> Parliament amended the Disaster Management Act to clarify and fix responsibilities of the National Disaster Management Authority and State Disaster Management Authorities, enable Urban Disaster Management Authorities and State Disaster Response Forces, establish national and state disaster databases, and introduce disciplinary and penalty provisions (via Sections 6, 10, 12, 18, 22 and 68) to enhance transparency, accountability, and convergence among stakeholders.
