<h1>India Unveils Commemorative Coins for 150th Anniversary of First War of Independence; Available for Collectors and Circulation.</h1> The Prime Minister of India released commemorative coins on April 18, 2008, to mark 150 years since the First War of Independence. The coins are Rs. 100 and Rs. 5 denominations. The Rs. 100 coin, weighing 35 grams, is composed of 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel, and 5% zinc, and is not for circulation. The Rs. 5 coin, weighing 9 grams, consists of 75% copper and 25% nickel, with 2.5 million pieces set for circulation via the Reserve Bank of India. The coins feature portraits of historical figures and will be available for collectors through the India Government Mint in Mumbai.
