<h1>Government Seeks Approval for Rs 51,462.86 Crore Extra Spending; Key Allocations for Subsidies and Pensions</h1> The government has requested parliamentary approval to spend an additional Rs 51,462.86 crore in the current fiscal year, ending in March. This request is part of the second batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants presented in the Lok Sabha. The additional expenditure primarily covers Rs 12,000 crore for fertiliser subsidies and Rs 13,449 crore for government employee pensions, including the Unified Pension Scheme. Other allocations include Rs 8,476 crore for defence pensions and Rs 5,322 crore for the Department of Telecommunications. The gross additional spending is over Rs 6.78 lakh crore, offset by savings and receipts.
