Bangladesh Delegation Visits China: Loan Extensions, Duty-Free Access, and Hydrological Data Sharing Boost Bilateral Ties
A 21-member delegation from Bangladesh visited China to strengthen bilateral ties, with China offering loan repayment extensions and duty-free access for Bangladeshi imports. This visit, hosted by the Communist Party of China, marks a significant diplomatic development in China-Bangladesh relations, especially under the Belt and Road Initiative. Following the fall of the previous Bangladeshi government, China agreed to extend the loan repayment period and consider reducing interest rates. Additionally, an agreement was signed to share hydrological information on the Yarlung Tsangpo-Jamuna River. Bangladesh's debt to China is approximately USD 5.57 billion.
