Since 2014-15, litigation costs have generally risen, except during the peak of the Covid pandemic. In 2014-15, the expenditure was Rs 26.64 crore, increasing to Rs 37.43 crore in 2015-16. To address this, the government is developing a national litigation policy aimed at expediting case resolutions, with a draft policy awaiting approval from the Union Cabinet.
