Rupee Drops 16 Paise to 86.88 Against USD Amid Stronger Dollar and Rising Brent Crude Prices
The rupee fell by 16 paise to 86.88 against the US dollar in early trade due to a stronger dollar, ongoing foreign institutional investor outflows, and rising Brent crude prices. Despite this, a rebound in domestic equity markets, with the BSE Sensex rising 117.57 points and Nifty up 31.3 points, helped limit further decline. The dollar index increased slightly by 0.03% to 106.62, while Brent crude rose 0.51% to $75.16 per barrel. Foreign institutional investors sold equities worth Rs 6,286.70 crore on Monday.
