ED Wins Order to Return Rs 3,339 Crore Assets to Agri Gold Ponzi Scheme Victims; Restitution Approved
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has secured a court order to restore assets worth Rs 3,339 crore to victims of a fraudulent ponzi scheme operated by the Agri Gold group across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and other states. The scheme involved collecting deposits from 19 lakh customers under the guise of real estate investments, promising high returns or residential plots. The ED's investigation, initiated in 2018, revealed funds were diverted to various industries without investors' knowledge. The court allowed the restitution of attached assets, including agricultural lands, plots, and an amusement park, to the victims, with the current market value exceeding Rs 6,000 crore.
