of <h1>EOW Investigates Alleged Rs 1100 Crore Contract Irregularities in Mithi River Desilting Since 2005; SIT Formed</h1> The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai police has initiated an investigation into alleged irregularities in contracts related to the desilting of the Mithi river, totaling Rs 1100 crore since 2005. A special investigation team (SIT) has been established, comprising senior police officials, to scrutinize contracts awarded between 2005 and 2023. Eighteen contractors are under review, with three already summoned for inquiry. The investigation also extends to contracts for sludge removal and river beautification.
