Tripura Surpasses Rubber Plantation Goals, Reaches 47,747 Hectares Under INROAD Initiative, Aiming for 69,000 Hectares Expansion.
Tripura has exceeded its five-year rubber plantation target of 30,000 hectares, reaching 47,747 hectares under the Indian Natural Rubber Operations for Assisted Development (INROAD) initiative by the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers' Association. The state aims to expand to 69,000 hectares, becoming a key player in achieving the overall goal of 200,000 hectares in Northeast India and West Bengal. While Tripura is India's second-largest rubber producer, only 4% of its rubber undergoes value addition locally, with most being exported. Efforts continue to support local growers and increase value-added production.
