<h1>Board of Approval Grants 10 New SEZs in India, Including Transport, Mineral, and Pharmaceutical Sectors.</h1> The Board of Approval for Special Economic Zones (SEZs) granted 10 formal approvals during its meeting on February 25, 2008. Noteworthy approvals include a SEZ for transport engineering goods in Tamil Nadu, a mineral-based SEZ in Madhya Pradesh, a pharmaceuticals SEZ in Gujarat, and IT/ITES SEZs in Andhra Pradesh and Haryana. Additionally, two SEZs for handicrafts and light engineering were approved in Rajasthan. The Board also converted in-principle approvals to formal for an automobile-related SEZ in Tamil Nadu and an IT/ITES SEZ in West Bengal. To date, 439 SEZs have received formal approval, with 201 notified, generating significant investment and employment.
